About me

Hi! My name is Richard Varga and I am an English to Slovak (and Slovak to English) translator based in Bratislava, Slovakia.

Always loving to convey meanings, I have been translating since 2016.
Throughout the years, I have worked on large website translations (100,000 words of a spa hotel chain website), translating internal documents of a bank (20,000+ words), or translating video games to name a few of my projects.
I have also timed, subtitled, and translated hours of event recordings and promo videos.

Most of this work was done alongside me working in various translation and localization project management positions, where I got the chance to learn all the processes and concerns of translation buyers.

This professional combination has put me into a unique position where I know the localization process throughout – through the eyes of a translator, but also the eyes of a client.

In this time, I have become familiar with all the different tools necessary for quality translation work:

  • CAT tools – SDL Trados Studio, Memsource (now Phrase), MemoQ, OmegaT
  • Subtitling tools – Subtitle Edit, Aegisub, EZTitles

Additionally, I can work with various other text/picture/data processing software and I am always eager and quick to learn working with new ones. Software doesn’t scare me.
